To Assist Persons with spinal cord Injuries and other disabilities to achieve independance, self reliance and full community participation. Learn more about us.
Are you an individual with a spinal cord injury or significant mobility impairment who lives in a rural area and is unable to connect with resources that would help improve your quality of life?
Spinal Cord Injury Newfoundland and Labrador’s Peer Reach Out Program presents a unique opportunity to connect with those outside the normal reach of support through technology. The program would allow us to connect individuals with spinal cord injuries with our peer support specialist and volunteers to participate in group meetings and one on one sessions through the use of video conferencing using programs like Skype.
SCI NL will be starting weekly online group peer sessions for anyone interested in joining. We will start off with general discussion and eventually move to topic centered meetings that will be hosted through Skype but open to other options if there is another medium you would prefer.
If you are interested in taking part in the group but you do not have the equipment necessary (not even a computer), we may be able to help. The program also provides funding to provide computer equipment for those lacking so feel free to reach out and see if we can assist you.
If you need any technical assistance with setting up your equipment to take part in the meetings, we can help you with that too. We are partnered with the Neil Squires Society who will assist you with setting everything up.
For more information on the program or to request assistance with funding or set up, please contact Dion Regular at dregular@sci-nl.ca or by phone at (709) 753-5901.
