Spinal Cord Injury receives grant from United Way of Newfoundland and Labrador to offer Peer Support and Community Advocacy Services
A very big thank you to the United Way of Newfoundland and Labrador for sponsoring Spinal Cord Injury Newfoundland and Labrador’s Peer Support and Community Advocacy Program for 2013 – 2014. Michael Burry (Executive Director SCI NL) accepted the $20,000 grant from RNC Inspector Jason Sheppard, Chair of United Way NL’s Community Investment Committee and Deanna Burden, representing United Way workplace RBC during the 2013 Community Fund Disbursement Event on November 13th, 2013.

Hey BarryWith regards to eomiconc activity, we just released our Economic strategy which I think is a good step in the right direction.In talking with various people, I understand that we as a City are contacting businesses and encouraging them to come to Corner Brook. I would like to see a more concerted effort to actively go out and sell the City to various businesses. I’m going to be lobbying for money in the budget to do this.With regards to Oceanex it’s a tough one. It’s a private business and they gave us zero notice that they were pulling out. From what I can understand they didn’t tell anybody .I could be wrong.I know that the City and the Port Authority have been talking about the situation on a regular basis. We talked about it again tonight at a Council meeting.
